GREER — Wings lovers and football fans will find something to suit their tastes when the annual

Wing Fling spices things up Sept. 10 in downtown Greer.

For the first time in its four-year history, the Greer Relief fundraiser will double as a tailgating hotspot

when the Clemson Tigers battle the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta, Ga. The game kicks off

at 7:30 p.m.

Caroline Robertson, the agency's executive director, hopes this year's Wing Fling will raise more than

$14,000 and attract more visitors than ever, with two big-screen televisions to broadcast the game.

Local band Justin Hill will perform classic rock ‘n' roll.

Ticket prices remain the same. Each ticket will cost $1 and will buy three wings. Domestic and

imported beers as well as Pepsi products also will be sold.

Robertson said the event is still seeking sponsors and restaurant participation. Wings are provided to

the restaurants free of charge as well as tents, tables and chairs.

Restaurants that have signed up so far include The Cazbah, Chief's Wings and Firewater, Demetre's

Gourmet Grille, Fatz Café, Great Bay Oyster House, Hooters of Greenville, Quaker Steak & Lube,

The Sake Grill, Tommy T's, Village Bar & Grill, Wild Ace, Wing Crave and Wings on the Run.

The event is presented by State Auto.
